Supports:
- A child with autism is guaranteed certain levels of assistance within schools.
- Services are tailored to the child’s individual needs
- They are often put in settings with other developmentally-delayed kids, whether this is is in small groups or classes.
- They often receive more individual attention or specialized instruction.
- sometimes, children with autism have personal assistants that go to their classes with them.
- Depending on functionality, students are able to spend part of the day in regular classrooms.
- The goal is the least restrictive environment, which ensures that students are not isolated, but incorporated into the regular classroom and activities as often as possible.
IEP’S:
- Once a student is evaluated and assessed, an IEP can be created.
- IEP’s outline the educational goals for the individual student and the differentiated instruction that the teacher will equip the student with.
- Parents are able to be involved in the creation of the IEP.
How to find a school:
- Find one that promises support and understands rights of both the student and the parents.

Homework strategies:
- Stick to a schedule - do homework at the same time everyday.
- Emphasize the importance of homework.
- Use a reward system. this will encourage the student participate in homwork time.
- Give student choices within the homework assignments, or where they do their homework, what materials they use.
